I can do it...

You know, I had a little bit of anxiety about doing the Ironman 70.3. I committed myself to it pretty abruptly. But I said to myself, "if you don't just do it, you never will". But recently I realized this: I won't win it. It's at MY pace. And if other people with less at their disposal can do it, why can't I? I need to enjoy it, and not worry so much about how high tech my bike is, or how fast will I complete it in, or do I have all the best equipment.

My first bike day!

Today was my first indoor training ride. I didn't have a bike, and over the holidays Suzie's uncle Ricky gave me his 1987 Panasonic Sport DX! I know, it's old, but it's a pretty good bike...and FREE (thanks Rich!). I took it to Sickler's (local bike shop) to get a basic tune up. I'm having trouble finding a pool, and winter won't let me swim outside. There are many challenges (money, time, work, family, equipment, training time etc.), but it can and will be done...because I say so.

(40 minutes, hills/jump rope)

The first post...

I have been weight lifting sporatically for a while, and am used to physical training from the Army. I devoted myself more to training than ever before. I decided that I'm tired of doing mediocre things, and want to excel at something few attempt. I not only want to be in 'decent shape', and be known to run a little. I want to achieve something that seems too difficult to fathom.
